Bailey

Bailey

How time flies. We have been busy since the first of May. Both the Inn and cottages were full for most of these last months. Many of our returning guests stayed two to six weeks including Jim and Louise Harcourt. Jim makes it a point to spend time with Bailey at least twice a day during their monthly stay. At the moment Bailey is missing Jim very much!

We  are now preparing for guests during Bowdoin Parents Weekend and Columbus Weekend.

We hosted several weddings and Mother Nature cooperated, although we had a tropical storm brewing during the second weekend in September. The tent sides went up and we anchored down the tablecloths, then all was calm. The rehearsal dinner was held in the Middlebay Room, the wedding took place at the edge of the water in back of the Inn and the reception was in a beautiful tent on the front lawn.

Once again we hosted the Morgan Auto Club and as usual, not only did they bring their unique collection of cars, but also their enthusiasm flowed over to the entire Inn.

Susan Carlson held two of her advanced quilting classes in the Middlebay Room this summer. Her students were from different parts of the country and their projects were amazing. Many of the students shipped their material and canvases to the Inn but a few carried them on the plane! Take a look at Susan’s website, susancarlson.com, if you are interested in joining a class.

We are fortunate to have such a caring and devoted staff. Although Erin graduated from Saint Anselm this year she helped us a bit before following her career in nursing. Our year round employees consisting of Danelle, Dana, and Cathy were joined by our regular summer employees Linda, Sue and Erica. We also had a family working for us this summer, Meghan, Kaitlin and Julie Campbell. Ginger Connelly and Allison Beauleau are helping us this fall.

It was a real treat to have all our six of our children and their families visit us this summer. Our daughter Nancy hosted dinner cooked over a wood fire on her beach.

This was a new experience for three-year-old Noah, who really enjoyed both making and eating the smores.
