Hello from the new owners of the Harpswell Inn, Rick and Trish Malec. Also joining us are Kyle and Caroline, our son and daughter. On May 3rd we closed on the property and, since then, with the help of my sisters Lucia, her husband Louis, and Tina, we have been scrambling to get up to speed. First, let me extend many thanks to Dick an Anne Mosely, the former owners. Dick and Anne ran the inn for 13 years and made this a fabulous place to stay. We are very fortunate to inherit such a lovely and well cared for property. In addition, the Mosely’s and the entire neighborhood have made us feel welcome in the Harpswell community. Everyone has gone above and beyond our expectations, thanks to all.
Our very first customer was Caryl Sedushak of Waukesha, WI. She was soon after joined by a group of seven for a photography workshop directed by Kathleen Clemons, a local professional photographer and instructor. You can contact Kathleen at http://kathleenclemonsphotography.com if you have any interest in future workshops. Of course, the coast of Maine is a paradise for photographers in many ways.
This weekend is Bowdoin College’s graduation and the inn is filled with proud parents and grandparents. Next weekend is Bowdoin’s Alumni weekend and we will welcome graduates from years past. I hear they are a fun bunch to be around and I look forward to meeting them.
This summer will bring numerous weddings, family reunions, a quilting workshop and scores of vacationers seeking rest and relaxation on Middle Bay in Harpswell. Please consider a stay with us, but I advise you to plan ahead as weekends are filling up fast. I guarantee you will truly enjoy the ambiance of this 250 year old inn.
That is all for now. Everyone have a great summer, I know I will.
